Thaw Naing was appointed director of The Noble and Paige Museum in July 2014.
Born in Rangoon, Burma in 1986, he studied Visual Communications Design and Illustration at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand. He shortly began his career writing and painting stories for educational publishing where he became best known for illustrated books that dealt with historical subjects. From 2008 he began organizing exhibitions and creating concept designs for museum and architecture spaces, before working as a designer for feature films, including Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Trilogy. In 2012 his work received a Krasnza-Krausz Book Award before he began writing graphic novels. He continued a diverse freelance career in different cities till he was appointed director of The Noble and Paige Museum.
In addition to his role at The Noble and Paige Museum, he advises on the board of the Bibliotheque Explorateur Society, and lectures in Auckland.
